Builds on an earlier productivity audit that identified fluctuating bonuses and incentives as an influence on output, safety and employee stress. The work examines how salaries, production bonuses and safety bonuses are graded and distributed across employee categories, how workers perceive that distribution, and whether incentives in practice motivate production and safe working. Stress and morale are treated as measures of wellbeing.

Wireline logs separated coal from interburden but could not resolve the individual zones, because the physical differences are too subtle. Better sedimentological models gave better reserve and resource estimates.

A high internal phase water in oil emulsion binder upgraded weathered ultra fine coal discard. At 5 kg/ton on a feed of 29.34 per cent ash and 20.94 MJ/kg, flotation gave a clean coal of 11.76 per cent ash and 28.61 MJ/kg at 15.61 per cent mass yield. Calorific value rose with agitation speed and fell with binder dosage.
